HOREF LABS
Horef Rings

Daily steps. Last recorded heart rate. Your third metric.

Bring the three together in one rectangular complication on any Apple Watch face with a large rectangular slot, such as Modular or Modular Ultra — or put any metric on any face on its own. Choose your third metric from weather, Activity, sleep and more. All three circles are yours to configure.

Works on every Apple Watch with watchOS 11 or later. Heart rate uses a permitted, stored reading when available; it is not live. watchOS controls refresh timing.

Headroom: how much you have in reserve this morning

Headroom is a daily score from 0 to 10. Horef Rings calculates it on your iPhone and Apple Watch from your Health data and shows it in any circle, complication or widget — as a dial of ten segments with the score in the middle, coloured by level (Rest, Easy, Steady, Push), or as one ring.

It is Horef Rings’ own estimate. It works on every Apple Watch, including models without Apple’s Readiness score, and its method is published below. It is a wellness estimate, not a medical measurement. If you feel unwell, talk to a doctor — don’t base medical decisions on it.

Help & setup

Add to your watch face

The three circles need a face with a large rectangular complication, such as Modular or Modular Ultra. Open Horef Rings on both devices after installation. Give each data source permission on the device that displays it.

On Watch: touch and hold the face → Edit → Complications → the large rectangular field → Horef Rings.

One metric as a complication

Touch and hold any face → Edit → Complications → choose a field → Horef Rings → a metric, or Left, Centre or Right for the metric in that Watch circle. Choose and order the other twelve on iPhone in Settings → Watch complications. watchOS shows up to 15 choices and refreshes the list after a restart: restart Apple Watch once after updating Horef Rings.

Choose your metrics

Choose any three available metrics. Open a slot to change its source, label, style, units, colour and goal.

App design

Horef Rings on iPhone → Settings → Appearance → Design: Standard, Terminal or Horef Labs. The Apple Watch app follows the iPhone. Widgets and complications keep their own colours.

Settings and language

The gear on the Horef Rings main screen opens Settings: appearance, language, presets, data and access, iPhone Lock Screen and Help. The app uses your iPhone language when it is English, Russian, German, French or Japanese, otherwise English. To use another language, choose it in Settings → Language; Automatic follows the iPhone again. Settings → Help is an illustrated guide with every award and its rule.

Available records only

Some metrics need records from compatible devices or other Health apps. Empty results can mean no records or no permission. Horef Rings is a display utility, not a medical device.

Apple Sleep Score and other apps’ complications are not available through public interfaces. Tapping a Watch circle opens its details in Horef Rings. Workouts show your last completed session.

Headroom

Headroom is Horef Rings' own estimate from 0 to 10, not Apple's Readiness score. Sleep: last night against your sleep need (7.5 hours unless changed in the Headroom history). Recovery: overnight heart rate variability, resting heart rate, breathing rate and wrist temperature against the median of your previous 28 days (at least 5). Load: active energy of the last 3 days against your 4-week average. Until enough history is recorded the score is approximate. It is a wellness estimate, not a medical measurement. If you feel unwell, talk to a doctor.

Headroom is a Pro metric. Choose it for any circle or widget and pick a style: Dial — ten segments with the score in the middle, coloured by level — or One ring. Apple Watch keeps only about a week of Health history, so it shows the iPhone’s score while that score is fresh.

Data is out of date

watchOS and iOS schedule widget updates, usually every 15–30 minutes; opening Horef Rings refreshes at once. A clock badge marks a value kept from an earlier update.

While your iPhone is locked, iOS does not let apps read Health data, so the iPhone shows today’s Activity received from your Watch. Allow Health and location on each device. Empty Health results can mean no records or no access.

The complication stopped updating after an update

After Horef Rings is installed or updated, watchOS can keep showing the previous complication until Apple Watch restarts. Restart the Watch once after each update.

A Pro metric still shows a lock

Pro and the trial are shared with your paired Watch automatically. Open Horef Rings on iPhone and on Watch once; if the lock stays, use Restore purchases on iPhone.

iPhone widgets and month calendar

iPhone widgets are included in Horef Rings Pro and the 14-day trial:

The iPhone has the same 75 metrics as Apple Watch: choose any of them in Edit Widget on iPhone. Home Screen widgets also work on the Mac desktop — in the Mac widget gallery, choose Horef Rings under From iPhone. Phone-specific labels, units, styles, goals and calendar/drive selections are configured in Horef Rings → Settings → iPhone Lock Screen → Phone metric settings, independently of the three Watch circles. Leave Metric empty to mirror a Watch circle instead.

Month calendar shows the entire month with today highlighted, using the regional first day of the week. Add its rectangular Lock Screen widget or a small/medium Home Screen widget. It does not show event dots or event details; use Next event and select the calendars you want for those details. On Apple Watch, Month calendar is also a rectangular complication. Tapping a calendar or date widget opens its page in Horef Rings; its Open button opens Apple Calendar or Google Calendar — choose in Horef Rings → Settings → iPhone Lock Screen → Open calendar in. If Google Calendar is not installed, Apple Calendar opens.

Tapping an iPhone widget opens its page in Horef Rings: the forecast for weather, upcoming events for calendar, date and month widgets, time left for the batteries and the last 7 days for Health metrics. On the pages for weather, Activity/fitness, Health/sleep and calendar, the Open button opens the corresponding Apple app; this depends on iOS and installed apps. Headroom, battery and external storage have no Open button. No specific Health record or workout screen is promised.

External storage can show free space, used space or percentage used for a selected USB drive/card connected to iPhone. Add each volume in External storage → Add drive or card and select a folder. iOS must expose local external-volume metadata. Capacity is the last check, not live connection status; physical drive compatibility needs verification. Watch sharing is optional and local.

iOS and watchOS schedule updates. Permissions, available records and device capabilities determine which values appear. Watch battery is a snapshot sent when the Watch app communicates. Missing readings are never invented. Saved personal presets and 12/24-hour display are available.
