An iPhone or iPad with a LiDAR scanner: iPhone 12 Pro or later Pro models, or iPad Pro (2020 or later), with iOS 17 or later. On other devices the app opens the built-in demo project so you can explore plans and exports, but it cannot scan.

Tap Scan rooms and point the iPhone at a wall. Walk slowly along the walls with the phone at chest height and show every corner, door and window. Tap Done with this room, then Next room to continue in the same coordinate system, or Finish. Good light, slow movement and 1–4 m distance to the walls give the best result.

Room mode handles rooms up to roughly 9 × 9 m. For bigger spaces use Scan large space (Pro): it records the raw LiDAR 3D mesh. Walk the perimeter slowly and return to the start. Afterwards move the Section height slider — the plan is the outline of walls, columns and equipment cut at that height. Expect centimetres locally and decimetres over tens of metres; for millimetre surveys use a terrestrial laser scanner.

In rooms LiDAR is usually within 1–5 cm. Glass, mirrors and very dark surfaces reduce accuracy. To correct the scale, tap a wall on the plan, choose Calibrate and enter its length from a tape measure; the whole plan, PDF, DXF and 3D are scaled. Always verify critical dimensions on site.

PDF — plan at a true scale (1:50, 1:100…) with dimensions, areas, title block and schedules (free). DXF — AutoCAD R12 drawing in millimetres; walls, doors, windows, rooms, furniture and dimensions on separate layers; opens in AutoCAD, BricsCAD, DraftSight, ArchiCAD, Revit and LibreCAD. OBJ and USDZ — 3D model of the plan; USDZ opens in AR on iPhone and iPad. Apple RoomPlan USDZ — Apple’s original model with detailed furniture. PLY / OBJ mesh — raw LiDAR surface of a large-space scan for CloudCompare, MeshLab or Autodesk ReCap. Pick one or several formats in Get PDF, DXF or 3D.

Tap + → Open CAD or 3D file…, or share a file to Horef Scan from Files, Mail, WhatsApp or AirDrop. DXF — ASCII DXF from AutoCAD R12 to 2018 (save a DWG as DXF first); show and hide layers. STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, PLY, USDZ — turn and zoom the model, show or hide its parts, cut it from above, the front or the side. STL and STEP are read in millimetres; if a model’s size looks wrong, change Model units. Viewing is free.

Ruler — tap two points; they snap to line ends, midpoints, centres and model corners. Notes — text, arrows, clouds and dimensions on a DXF; Share DXF with notes sends your original file with the notes added on the red layer HOREF_MARKUP, everything else unchanged. AR — a model at real size in your room, or a drawing on the floor. CAD over a scan — in a scan project choose … → Lay a CAD file over the scan…, then Align the overlay with the buttons or by two points; a scale difference over 2 % usually means wrong drawing units.

Only on your device, in Files → On My iPhone → Horef Scan. Nothing is uploaded. Back them up with your normal device backup, or export the files you need.

Scan buttons are disabled — the device has no LiDAR scanner. “The space is too large” — scan room by room or use large-space mode. “Tracking was lost” — move slower, add light, aim at textured surfaces. “The iPhone is too hot” — let it cool down. A wall or door is missing — scan the room again, slowly showing that area from 1–2 m.
